Matrìca offers a range of bases designed for the formulation of biolubricants for the agricultural, automotive and aviation industries, as well as for the production of hydraulic oils and special fluids for industry.
These are products obtained through the esterification of pelargonic acid with different types of polyols. The renewable carbon content and biodegradability of the resulting lubricants promote their use over standard products in sensitive areas where micro-dispersion is favoured.
The use of Matrìca esters in the formulation of biolubricants has major technical advantages: it improves oxidation resistance by extending service life, reduces fuel consumption and has a better lubricating effect.
The table below shows the grades of esters in Matrìca's portfolio:
Product | Trade name | Viscosity @40°C [mm2/s] (ASTM D 7042-14) | Pour point [°C] (ASTM D97) | Flash point [°C] (ASTM D93) | Biodegradability (OECD 301B) | Biogenic content (ASTM D6866-22) |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
TMP Pelargonate (C9) | LP101M | 19 - 22 | ≤ -39 | ≥ 240 | ≥ 70% | 82% |
TMP Pelargonate-H (C9) | LP102M | 19 - 22 | ≤ -39 | ≥ 240 | ≥ 70% | 82% |
NPG Pelargonate (C9) | LP201M | 7 - 10 | ≤ -30 | ≥ 200 | ≥ 81% | 79% |
Glycerol Pelargonate (C9) | LP601M | 10 - 20 | ≤ 0 | ≥ 200 | ≥ 81% | 100% |
Matrìca esters are included in the Lubricant Substance Classification (LuSC-list). They may therefore be used in Environmentally Acceptable Lubricants (EALs) with no restrictions on biodegradability and aquatic toxicity. They are also NSF HX-1 certified, so they can be used as bases for lubricants suitable for incidental food contact.
Below are the main sectors of application for Matrìca esters.
